Project Description

New Visitors Centre at the Houses of Parliament, designed by Architects Design Partnership. The new building forms the searching and security areas and gives visitors a new way into the Palace of Westminster. The scheme comprises of a new single-storey building on Cromwell Green abutting the annex to Westminster Hall and the retaining wall to St Margaret’s Street and being built over existing basement accommodation. Other features include:

  • New kiosk adjacent St Stephen´s Entrance.
  • New glazed canopy from entrance building to Westminster Hall.
  • Associated hard and soft landscaping to Cromwell Green and walkways.
  • Additional toilet accommodation in Westminster Hall annex.
  • Installation of secondary security glazing to Westminster Hall annex.
  • Reconstruction of roof over Grand Committee Room in cast lead.
  • Removal and reinstatement of the great hall flooring and steps.

This project is part of an ongoing programme of works for the Parliamentary Works Directorate. We also carried out works to, The Great Hall, The South Steps and The Grand Committee Room, all these projects were completed to programme.
